Christmas with Scarlett

Our first Christmas with Scarlett was so much fun! I still love to wake up as early as I can just so Christmas can last as long as possible! This year I let Rob sleep in until 6 a.m until I woke him up haha. We were able to get through all of our presents for each other before Scarlett woke up. In fact, we had to go wake Scarlett up because we couldn't take it any longer! She usually wakes up at 7 every morning, but of course since we wanted her up she decided to sleep in.

After waking Scarlett up, we showed her all of the new toys she received. As soon as I handed her one she just started shaking with excitement and was overwhelmed so I just decided we needed to wait a bit longer haha. So we headed over to my in-laws (an hour later… thanks to the 10 inches of snow we received that night having to be shoveled). When we got to my in-laws house Scarlett was much more awake and as soon as we set her down in front of the presents she just went crazy and climbed on top of as many as she could!

We set up all of her toys and it was so funny to see her react to all of them. I was so surprised at how well she did with her walker. As soon as she got ahold of that thing she just started giggling and she walked as fast as her little legs let her! It was the funniest thing to watch! Thanks Charli and Jeremy she will be walking in no time now i'm sure! She has had a lot of crashes on it so far, but she doesn't seem fazed by it one bit and will just get right back on it!

This one a Christmas we will never forget and I am so excited for all of the ones to come because I know they are just going to get better and better!

We didn't get a bunch of pictures of Scarlett from the morning because we were having too much fun with her, but we have some. And of course we have some of all of her cute little Christmas outfits!

Baby-Led-Weaning

After reading numerous blogs about baby-led-weaning, I decided to try it out for myself. Scarlett has always stared down Rob and I as we ate so I thought this wouldn't be a bad idea at all! Baby-led-weaning is so fun for Scarlett, but it also gives me nightmares of her choking. Literally... I still have nightmares and wake up from them so scared I can't sleep even though I have a real tough guy right next to me. Maybe I'll grow out of them someday. ANYWAY, because of that I still haven't gone all in with it.

She has been doing so good with handling the food and just taking little bites out at a time. I have been so glad that there hasn't been any choking yet. (Knock on wood.) This has been so much to see her try out new things and love (almost) everything that I have given her.

For breakfast lately I've been giving her eggs, fruit, and one day I made some blueberry banana muffins. The first time that I gave Scarlett the eggs she loved them! But ever since then she hasn't been as interested. The blueberry muffins were okay but she would just pick the blueberries out. So lately I have just been giving her some fruit. Her favorites are bananas and STRAWBERRIES. She is so obsessed with strawberries, she has to have one in each hand when she eats them just to really get the full experience.

Her mom it's too early for pictures face.

Despite her face she really does love strawberries so much!

For lunch/dinner I have been doing peas/avacados/green beans/and I just tried some tortellini. She wasn't really interested in the tortellini and I gave her some of my chicken that she wasn't as into either. So for now I will just keep putting it in front of her until she tries it.

Right now she is just into eating some, and then throwing it all on the floor and looking at it from there. But I will take what I can get. Whenever she seems to not eat a lot I just give her some strawberries and she goes crazy!

It's been so fun to let her try out all of these different things. It feels good not being the only source of food for her, even though she eats about the same, it still feels different! I feel free!!!! Lol.

Family Pictures

Awhile ago I won a free giveaway from Kallie Porter Photography! I was so excited!!! I never win anything and I had been wanting to get our family pictures done! So it was just perfect and she did an AMAZING job on them. She is so great at what she does!!

I wanted to post some of my favorites on here because I don't want to blow up instagram anymore than I already have :).

9 MONTHS!

Weight - 16.8 pounds-26th percentile
Height - 27.5 inches-42nd percentile
Head - 17.5 inches-67th percentile

We went to her appointment this week and as soon as the nurse laid Scarlett down to get measured her little lip started to quiver and her big eyes started to water because she was so sure she was about to get some shots. Thank goodness she didn't have to any this appointment!!

Every time I look at Scarlett lately I am so amazed at how big she looks and how different she is every day. She learns and picks things up so fast! She makes me so happy… even when she doesn't haha. Every day there is something new that she is doing or saying or eating. They seriously eat everything they see? The other week I was feeding her some food and Rob swore he saw something in her mouth. I checked and there wasn't anything so I kept feeding her. Then Rob saw it again. She stuck a candy wrapper in her mouth and just kept it in her cheek the whole time she was eating! That takes some great skill… I can't even keep my gum to the side of my mouth when taking the sacrament at church without getting my bread all over it.

Anyway, here are some of the new things that Scarlett has been doing!

1. She said her first word "mama" about a month and a half ago and that was the only thing she would ever say. I think it was starting to get to Rob… haha. But now she has been saying papa, dada, and a bunch of other things I haven't quite figured out yet.

2. She crawls the real way now and pulls herself up on about anything she can! She walks along everything and I'm just waiting for the day she gives herself a black eye. She bangs her head on about anything she can bang her head on and never makes one peep about it!

3. I've been feeding her different kinds of table foods lately and so far she LOVES blueberries, avocados, and eggs! She did so good with eating everything I would put on her highchair the first couple of days, but now she is more into throwing her food on the floor and just staring at it from a distance. Oh and today she tried to lick it off the floor… mom win.

4. She also loves Diet Coke… thanks to both grandmas ;). Okay just little sips is all don't worry.

5. She has the cutest/cheesiest smile I have ever seen! She scrunches her nose up and smiles as big as she can. It looks like a fake smile almost… maybe it is… haha.

6. She loves to pull on Rob's hair and just yank it as hard as she cans. She thinks it is the funniest thing and so do I! Until she tries pulling on mine.

7. OH! And she has 2 teeth!! Whoooo!! After months and months of drooling they finally popped through!

She really is the happiest baby and always has a huge smile on her face! Happy 9 Months Scarlett!

Photo Shoot

By now Scarlett is used to having her pictures taken 24/7. Poor girl always has a camera in front of her, but she is too cute to not document!!!

This last week she was being extra cute when we were taking pictures. My mom stood behind the picture taker and was making her giggle like crazy it was so funny! She gave us some of biggest grins I have seen! So we all had to get in on the fun.

Fear the Beard

To start off all of the Halloween fun, Robs mom threw a Halloween party for all of the cousins. Scarlett  didn't participate in any of the fun games, but she looked cute watching!

Two months ago we were at the cabin with Robs family talking about what all of the kids would be for Halloween. Rob brought up dressing Scarlett as his favorite basketball player/second love/man crush James Harden. I automatically shot it down! There was no way I was going to dress up my sweet little girl as a boy with a beard!

So Robs parents got her the cutest little chicken costume and I just added the feathers to the front of it. It was so dang cute! She wore it for the Halloween party Robs mom threw and for pictures of course! Then the night before Halloween Rob and I were just talking about doing something funny all together for Halloween. We talked about a few things and then he brought up the James Harden idea. After he said the idea again I thought to myself why not?! It's so fun to make memories together and this would be one we would never forget and it would be something that would always make us laugh! So later that night we got one of her onesies and made it into James Hardens jersey. Then the next day i was on a mission to find some beards and black hair dye.

Oddly enough there wasn't any beards for babies but we found one and made it work! Yes I put black hair dye in my babies (barely) hair, don't judge it was a necessity! When it was all together it was the funniest thing I have ever seen! She wasn't a fan of the big beard, but who is? (sorry Rob). But it gave everyone some good laughs all night long! And now looking back at the pictures it makes me laugh even more!

Hopefully she will appreciate our sense of humor when she is older and looks back at the pictures...

Doesn't she just look just like him? Hahaha. The first Halloween with all three of us was one that we will never forget!!

7 Months

Scarlett is 7 months old and weighs (according to my scale) 18 pounds...
Well I don't exactly think Scarlett has gained 3 pounds in one month so sadly I don't know how much she really weighs... BUT on the bright side that means my SCALE IS OFF AND I WEIGH LESS!!!  WHOOO!!!!

About a month or so ago I kept seeing all of these moms posting about how "their baby sleeps 12 hours a night" and I just felt like I was doing something wrong because Scarlett was still waking up 3+ times a night. I thought it was my fault because I have always fed her to sleep and thought that was making her too attached. So I started the good ole cry it out method to put her to sleep at night.

The first night that we started this was HORRIBLE. Rob kept making fun of me because I couldn't stand to just sit and listen to her  cry. But really who likes to do that?! After the first couple of times it wore on me and she has been getting so much better. It only takes her a couple  minutes to soothe her self and then she is out. She still wakes up about 2 times to feed, but I will gladly take that!

I had to keep reminding myself that all babies are different, and to stop comparing the way I do things to the way other moms do theirs. Everyone has their methods and mine has been working great for us. I love Scarlett and I love the bond that we have (even if it means she is a little attached to the goods). Now I just remind myself to always do what's best for us, and what makes Scarlett and I the happiest. So now she is going to bed at 7:30 which is FABULOUS because that means me and Rob get a lot of time together which is SO important to me. And it also saves my sanity most days.

Scarlett has been SO fun lately. She has always been such a happy girl, but now she is learning some new tricks and her personality is growing more every day. Here are some of the new things going on lately.

1.  She is scooting herself around as  much as her little arms will let her.
2. She plays this game that she made up where she will yell, and then wait for you to yell back, and then yell again, and then giggle because she thinks she is so funny. It is so dang cute. This usually goes on for a whole 5 minutes before she gets distracted and shoves her foot in her mouth.
3. She LOVES food (of what she can have) whenever me and Rob are eating I have to make sure that I have something for her to eat on the side or else she stares us down the whole time with her big blue eyes that I just can't say no to.
4. Nights have been getting much better as I was saying above, she only wakes up about 2 times a night for her snacks! But really she just cries until i pick her up and then when I do she keeps her eyes closed and keeps her mouth open just waiting for me to feed her addiction. Thinking about it now makes me laugh... But I never really laugh when she does it at 3 am.
5. She loves Mickey Mouse clubhouse and always has since she was 3 months old. She gets a huge grin when the song comes on at the very beginning and then again when the hot dog song comes on. Rob also has goofys hot dog dance down to a T and it entertains me and Scarlett for hours.
6. She is such a people person. She loves to be around anyone that will look at her and tell her she's cute.. But really if you see her she will stare at you seriously until you tell Her she's cute and then she will give you a smile. It's hilarious. She's a great shopping buddy!
 7. She waves all of the time! The first time she did it was when Rob left to work one morning. He waved to us and said by and she just waved right back with a cute little  grin on her face. It melted me.

I have so much fun with her every day! She is a little bundle of joy that I love so much!

Happy Half Year!

Scarlett is already 6 MONTHS OLD! I don't know where time has gone!

15.4 pounds - 36th percentile
26.25 inches tall - 66th percentile
Head 17 inches - 78th percentile

Don't let the happy face fool you, this picture was right before she got her shots. She is starting to even out but is still so skinny! I guess it's time to pull out the twinkies.

She is always such a happy little baby and I couldn't ask for a better baby! Here are some new things going on with Scarlett as of lately.

1. She rolls like crazy! If she sees something she wants across the room, she doesn't try to crawl… just rolls right over to it haha.
2. She just started to sit up in a shopping cart… :( It is so much nicer to go shopping now, but it still makes me sad to see her so big.
3. She sleeps through the night! LOL JK. That was fun to write though. Maybe ONE day we will be able to sleep for more than a couple hours at a time, but for now I will cherish our late night boob snacks.
4. She will only sleep on her stomach with her face smothered in the bed. She sleeps exactly like Rob.
5. She sits up, but only when she wants to. She is getting quite the personality lately.

I feel so lucky to have been blessed with Scarlett as my baby. She makes this parent thing a lot more fun then I anticipated.
